Hi,

I am wondering if any other Christchurch based users of the in-home Cable broadband have been experiencing peformance or drop out issues over the last few days?  I am in Hoon Hay area and have been experiencing latency issues as well as slow speed downloads, VOIP problems. My Linkysys WIFI/Voip/Ethernet sswitch has also been dropping out at times and requires reboot to access TCL nework.

Interested to know if anyone else has noted similiar issues?

ClearNet web page is showing no known problems to report (but that doesn't mean much in my experience especially when there are network problems like these).

Cheers....Undecided

Hi,

Thanks for the replies guys...

I note that the download speeds seem to be consistently slower than a few months back, with Speedtest.net tests running at around 3.6Meg/sec (30 sec ping) to the Snap server here in Chch and 6Meg/sec (45 sec ping) to the WxC server in Auck.

I am on the 10Meg/sec Download - 2 Meg/sec Upload TCL Plan and was getting consistently around 8-10Meg/sec a while back. It looks like we either have general TCL capacity contention issues (maybe at our local Cable transmissions node/s), traffic shaping and or a peering interconnect capacity issues here (at either ISP)?? It's a bit sick when the test to Optus server in Sydney is faster than the Chch one, with 4.3Meg/sec download from across the ditch!

Not that keen to sit in the TCL technical callcentre queue to be told that all is well. Xtra or Resale ADSL2+ and another ISP is looking attractive!

Cheers
