Roaming just got even better with Vodafone

Vodafone has sharpened its pencil with 42 new destinations on Vodafone Traveller, making it even better value. Three of the most popular destinations for Kiwi travellers, USA, Canada and South Africa have been re-zoned meaning you’ll now pay just your standard home rate plus $2 per minute for each call no matter what network you are roaming on or where you are calling. This is a saving of 33% on calling from North America and a whopping 60% from South Africa, just to name a couple.

“Customers want simplicity when roaming overseas, Traveller gives them price assurance where ever they happen to be”, says Vodafone’s General Manager of Business Marketing, Becky Lloyd. “
In addition to revamping the Traveller pricing, Vodafone has also simplified standard roaming pricing for those customers who choose not to be on Traveller.  There is now a simple ‘in country’, and ‘out of country’ price for each country.

‘In country’ calls are calls made to mobiles and landlines in the same country you are in, ‘out of country’ calls are those made to other countries – like phoning home to New Zealand. Our Standard pricing will appeal to customers who tend to make a higher proportion of in-country calling than back to New Zealand.

On Account customers using our standard roaming rates no longer have to worry about what network they are on and at what time of the day they are calling. We’ve simplified it down to two easy rates for each country. This gives customers the freedom to choose pricing that suits their calling needs.

Visit http://www.vodafone.co.nz/roaming  to find out more about the new changes.

UPDATE: All new customers are automatically setup with traveller, however current customers must opt in.

People also need to be aware that traveller is no my means the best option if you're making lots of calls within a country rather than back to NZ while travelling. If you are making national calls they are considerably cheaper on the regular roaming plan, and roam forward calls (ie when somebody in NZ rings you) are only $1 per minute so it's far cheaper for you to answer a call from NZ rather than making one back to NZ.

Friend was using their 2talk callback thingie to make calls when roaming last time to save some cash - missed call to the home number and it calls back and gives a dialtone for AK calls
