I'm currently on Ultimate pack and connected to an adsl2+ cabinet. I called Vodafone to switch to Naked broadband but apparently its not avilable in my area. Is naked broadband only available in the red zone? I would have thought not, as it says on the website that naked broadband is available in most areas.

Available only in the red zone as the red zone is where they have their own gear installed and can offer that service. In non red zone areas they are just reselling a telecom service which unfortunately does. Ot include naked dsl.

this is a slap in the face!

I am pretty sure naked DSL is available outside the red zone but not on some exchanges. I have been unable to determine exactly how they decide and no-one from Vodafone can tell me either but some exchanges (eg Taupo) can get naked...

Cheers, Matt

It will be a business decision not to offer that service outside of their "red network" rather than a technical limitation...

Is it a distance from the exchange thing? I am in Pukekohe and not zoned as rural but unable to get it. I tried for a couple of weeks. I even pestered Paul Brislan but it came to nothing....

I'm sure they offer it via telecom wholesale. Otherwise you'll have to go xnet or snap.

Vodafone offer Naked ADSL outside the Red Zone, but my understanding also was that it was only in Metro areas (ie they don'r provide it off exchanges classed as Rural).

Enter your address into their website and you'll find out.

I live outside the red zone at Papamoa and I have Vodafone Naked Broadband.  Seems very slow tonight for some reason. Tried replying earlier to this and kept timing out

John, Is whether you can get naked done by exchange or by distance from the exchange? It appears that no-one can answer why some people can get it and others can't?

My parents could get it in Taupo if they wanted and they are rural delivery but I can't living in the middle of Pukekohe.....

Cheers, Matt.

I've posted links a few times in the past, I know the ComCom site has this on it.

I've got a list somewhere but can't find it at present.
