If I wish to port my number to another provider while On Account and before contract is up, do I need to ring and tell Vodafone or can I just do it and they will post/email months bill with early termination charges included?

You only deal with the carrier you are porting to

Thanks John

You don't do anything. The porting process will be completed and your account closed. Any due fees (calls, plans, early termination) should be in your next (last) invoice.

DO NOT CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT. IF YOU CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT YOU LOSE YOUR NUMBER AND YOU CANNOT PORT IT. ONLY DEAL WITH THE COMPANY YOU ARE PORTING YOUR NUMBER TO.

I'm not sure it applies to mobile, but when we used to do POTS porting, I would always recommend a client call their old provider and make sure that old account was closed.

We did have the odd provider who would continue to charge, even though there was no service.

You can call, but AFTER THE ACCOUNT IS PORTED AND THE NUMBER IS WORKING ON ANOTHER PROVIDER.

Yes, because some provider have bad processes and you never know if they keep the account open.
