I've been given a family members laptop and new Vodem to get working.

They have tested it on other OS's (Windows 7) and it works perfect but trying to get it working on Vista is a problem.

Plugging in the Vodem Windows detects a 'ZTE CDMA Technologies MSM' or ' 'ZTE USB SCSI-CD-ROM USB Device' device but won't install any drivers for them.
Nothing shows up in My Computer.

I have installed the latest version of the software from a Vodafone site so it's running on v10.0.201.23143.

I have read articles about needing to upgrade the firmware of the Vodem but that won't work right now because that firmware software doesn't even detect the Vodem.

Is there drivers for the 'ZTE CDMA Technologies MSM' device to get this Vodem working under Vista.

(Also been posted on the Vodafone Forums)

Ive had major problems with Vodems and Vista, had to deal with around 10 of them in the last few years (im a tech). Theres NUMEROUS things that can cause it not to work in vista, however your onto it with the firmware. The only way to really upgrade it is to do it through an XP machine that can detect the vodem, upgrade the firmware and software on the vodem. Uninstall any vodem software on the vista machine, run a good cleaner over the system (i recommend ccleaner and regvac). Then reinstall from the vodem, this should work. If it doesnt then its most likely a corruption in the registry in which case you have to go through and delete all references to ZTE in the registry which is a painstaking process i dont recommend!! It will almost be easier to reload the laptop with Vista (windows7 would be a better option lol).

Cheers, I'm a tech also, thats why I got landed with this job.

I've brought the Vodem into the office and playing with it on a XP laptop now. XP detected the Vodem fine and no issues in Device Manager.

The version of firmware I have downloaded was for the 'E220Update_11.117.09.04.00.B268'. Is that the right one?

The model on the Vodem is K3565-Z

Apparently I don't need to upgrade the firmware on this vodem and should 'just' work.

Anyone else set these up on Vista? Because the drivers with the Vodem and latest software I've downloaded don't work.

According to vodafone's website it says Windows Vista:

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2380178_Vodafone_Prepay_Vodem_Stick_Userguide....

It doesn't say whether it works on both 32bit and 64bit Vista. Which Vista are you using?

So if it doesn't work on Vista you should contact vodafone and if they don't help then contact the commerce commission.

Have you completely uninstalled the old version and installed the latest?
