Hi all

We are about to get TelstraClear's Gateway product installed.  They will sell us Uniden FP099s, but I am interested in what other handsets work (and what are the requirements for a handset to work with this system).

Ideally would like to get one or two cordless handsets.

Any help appreciated, thanks

John

Google shows the FP099 as just being a regular analogue phone. Anything would work in it's place.

The TelstraClear web site for IP Gateway states that you can use regular analogue phones, or one of two models of IP Phone (I would suspect that other models would also work, but you would have to talk to your sales person about support for this...)

TelstraClear has 2 products - the retired Gateway product, which was only available in the CBD areas from their network, and the new IP Gateway product (which is IP based and runs over a compatible access rather than just what TCL put in the ground).

Both offer analogue ports  - ie plug in any analogue device, Gateway has custom digital handsets, IP gateway uses Polycom IP phones.

Analogue can be BYO, but IP (and Digital) is not.

As an observation, even analogue handsets are not pure plug-in and they go (far from it), so while you could whack any gadget in, the experience will vary markedly... Smile

Thanks AK

I've got to admit I am really confused with the products - we are on-network (constellation Drive) and while initially we were offered the FP099 (and having just reviewed all the documentation I see  the Uniden Fp106 is also in the list) we were subsequently offered the polycom.  At some point someone mentioned that the characteristics for the analogue handset were that it had a "??flash??key and a ???? key" - I thought yeah, yeah I'll look that up later and of course now I can't remember the details of what those keys were and I can't find anything online on the site.  And our installation is scheduled for some time this month, so I need to get onto the hardware.

The call centre contact person has been very helpful ( but maybe not totally au-fait with the product) so I am making the assumption that we can get all the features (call transfer, divert on busy etc) with an analogue line rather than a gline.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback. TCL will install a gateway that can serve both analogue ports (up to 8 direct), and IP ports, as required.

It's horses for courses really - the options are there to give customers choice, so if your premises wiring isn't up to it for IP, we can just bang in analogue. All features still there, but exeuction on an analogue phone differs a little to IP phone, as you'd expect.!
