Anyone able to clarify re the following?

Earlier tonight we rented a movie and shortly after we started watching, received an important phone call that lasted ~35min.  We put the movie on pause at the start of the call & resumed watching after the call, with the display showing us 37 min behind.

All worked well until about the scheduled time the movie finished.  At that point we still had 37 mins to watch, but the movie suddenly stopped and displayed a static screen with a "Now's Good"(?) logo and a message showing us at -37min.  At that point we could not fast forward or play the movie - just the static screen.

We then went back to the movie selection screen to see if we could watch a following screening as it is supposed to be viewable any time during the 24 hr rental period.  But no go there either.  Next screening had just started but it would only allow us to view it if we paid another $6.95 rental fee.

Qn:  Is that normal behaviour if a rented movie is paused; ie. will only continue playing during the scheduled screening time, so if pause for X mins, you miss the final X mins of the movie?

Or was this a fault?

Also, does pausing the movie affect availability of subsequent screenings within the 24 hr rental period?
