From the Vodafone forums: http://forum.vodafone.co.nz/topic/7468-new-vodafone-txt-deals-give-much-more-value/page__pid__61662__st__0&#entry61662

Great news for all Supa Prepay TXT 2000 customers. Vodafone is more than doubling its current TXT 2000 bundle, giving prepay customers a whopping 5000 on-net TXTs every month while the price still remains at just $10.

Not only that, we are launching a new Supa Prepay any network TXT bundle for just $12 a month. Called TXT NZ, it will allow Vodafone Supa Prepay customers to send up to 2500 TXTs to anyone on any New Zealand mobile network.

Kursten Shalfoon, Vodafone General Manager Consumer, says these new offers are exactly what our customers have been asking for. "Our prepay customers have two distinct TXTing needs. Some have their entire TXTing community on Vodafone while others have their friends and family on other networks. TXT NZ and TXT 5000 give our customers they choices they want, and we are proud to be offering New Zealands best value TXT options."

Both new offers will be available from Wednesday 23 March. TXT 5000 will be automatically added to customers' accounts the next time their TXT 2000 bundle renews. Customers will be able to sign up to TXT NZ from Wednesday 23 March by TXTing 'Buy TXTNZ’ to 756.

Especially as the Commerce Commission are regulating MTRs at the end of the month and looking at on/off net pricing.

Well done Vodafone, some good promotions over the past few months such as double back and doubling of minutes for on-account customers. About time! :D

Vodafone have been insulated from the impact of the text me race that 2 degrees are running as they haven't had the large off network text bundles. This will open them up to this now. I'd assume they would look at blocking this if you were sending too many to 1 number.

Good thing that BAK for SMS will be the norm at the end of the month.

I thought that was just for when the final determination of what they were going to do was going to be made. Are they implementing it on the same date, or, have the rates already been set for texts and will be implemented on that date?

solution:

change to prepaid
or
change provider

If you didn't like the on account plan you are on now why did you sign up to it?

Because i have been with vodafone for ~7 years, and ive been through several different plans over the years too. I haven't moved provider because i make great use of Bestmate. Going to prepay is an option that i will have to look into now, i originally went on-account as the hassle of topping up was getting to me, the bill at the end of the month is more convenient, and back then on-account had more value than prepay.
Oh how the tides have turned, it is blatantly clear vodafone value the prepay customer base over the secured income of on-account.

Anyways back on topic, great news for supa prepay!
