I had a quick look through the forums pages, and it seems no one has posted about this -WHY?

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/specials-promos/double-minutes.jsp

Vodafone is offering customers on most plans the chance to sign up for 3 months worth of 'double' your plans minutes.

Simply text 'Double Minutes' to 4114 by April 24th to sign up.

Last month VF tweeted they would offer an extra 100 minutes as thanks for being with VF, (I did moan through GZ asking for more data instead ;) ) but now we can get double our plan minutes.

For me that means:
240 Anytime minutes
1000 pxts
600? texts
3000MB data
1x free best mate
And a cheap as iPhone 4 all for $81 month or there abouts.

Nice one VF.

Nice offer. But why people need to "sign up". Can't the operator simply add the bonus to everyone and be done with it?

Nice bonus, but I also wonder why we have to sign up for it.

My though exactly.. why exactly am I opting into?  accepting that VF may 'at any time' start to charge for the additional minutes?  Makes more sense, as above, to simply add it automatically to all on account customers.

BTW.. some of us would prefer more txt's than minutes!

Its a marketing feedback strategy.

They'll want to know the best ways to reach their customers.

You also had to send a TXT to get the double mins in December. I know a lot of people who weren't even aware of the deal.

price discrimination 101

they do it to minimise their revenue losses.  they make a lot of money from people using extra minutes so they want to limit the giveaway to customers who are most likely to move to Xt or 2Degrees.

customers who are too lazy to sign up for the extra minutes are probably the same customers who are too lazy to check out the XT and 2D on account pricing and realise they are both much better value.

I had resigned onto the SIMple Txter plan for 12 month so I get double the included minutes, i.e. now I get 120 min instead of the normal 60 min. I had opted in to this new offer as well, does that mean I will now get the 240 min or 120 min based on what the plan normally includes?
