Lord of the Rings Online moved to using Pando Media Booster for full client downloads about 18 months ago much to the angst the greater LoTRO community. Fortunately I hadn't had to download a new client until just last week when I ran into problems.
The download is 10.3GB and upon installation I was consistently getting a 'file is corrupted error'. I'd been through the usual processes of switching off a/v etc etc but to no avail. So I downloaded it again... half my monthly cap in 3 days, but arrived back at the same problem.
Turbine Support suggested it could be my ISP that shapes or otherwise messes with p2p traffic, resulting in dropped packets. Since I've used uTorrent successfully in the past I didn't put much stock into that. But I did take their other suggestion and try the download via another ISP, Orcon in this case. Much to my surprise, the installation afterwards went fine.
So, was this just a case of third time lucky do you think? Does TCL do anything different with P2P traffic? Or is there an option C?
TIA.
