The trusty PAP2 we use at the office decided to die today, after many years of faultless use with VFX. Rather than replacing it with another ATA we've decided it would probably be more useful to actually replace it with a VoIP Phone.

So what models are currently supported on VFX?

By supported I mean able to be configured via their provisioning process, as having something that works pretty much straight out of the box is important to us.

The Cisco SPA 5xx Range is well supported and pretty good value, all handsets also support HD as well...

Hate to rain on your parade maverick, but HD is only great if the other side also supports it - POTS doesn't yet Smile

Does VFX support HD voice? And if so who out of network does it work with e.g. Telstra VOIP platform, 2talk etc.?

Yes they support HD voice, but I don't think it's compatible with anyone outside the VFX network (I'm sure maverick will correct me if I'm wrong)

Yes have done for a few years, we support both Hd voice across our network from our residential vfx custys to our commercial sip trunk custys that have HD systems, video is also supported over SIP, as for the others TCL do not at this stage we have a full IP interconnect with them but they do support HD in their core , 2talk , italk in some areas I think 2talk pretty much is just fronted by call plus anyway no network as such just a VoIp service handing off to call plus but they do have some support I believe, Orcon probaly not they run sip pots and this genius thing dosnt look like it does much apart from look pretty, Vodafone pretty sure doing the sip on a dslam thing swill be no HD there.

Have to say I love the HD , was talking to a commercial cushy yesterday on their IP pbx with HD and it is just a superb experince , big fan I must say

So which devices support HD voice? Only the handset ATAs?

You can never have enough Volvos!

IP phones only.

You can't have HD voice on an ATA or any analogue phone since the microphones and speakers don't support 7kHz sampling.

I have a Polycom VVX 1500 in the office which supports HD Voice + Video. Both work really well across the WxC network (even on plain old residential ADSL). Crystal clear.

However, as pointed out above - both parties need to support it.. and I could count the number of times that's happened on one hand. (And most of those occasions were talking to people who have posted in this thread!) :)

To be fair the majority are commercial customers but as more and more residential devices start supporting this then there will be more of it, I Run spa525's at home, Polycom vvx1500 at work

I can confirm I've had g722 (HD) and h264 video operating between WxC and CallPlus SIP services.

Works great and we've deployed a lot of video SIP intercoms on VFX
