Is LightSpeed 20G the min HFC only service I can have at an on net address?

What's the RFS lead time?

Is there an install cost?

Hornby, Christchurch.

I followed the wizard on the web site, which seemed to let me just order a LightSpeed 2G but then it wouldnt' tell me the total up front cost before having to start filling in customer details.

TIA

D

ok, public forum... by far the best and quickest way to get stuff done! :)

* No installation - couldn't see that stated on the web site (might be there, just didn't see it)
* BB only requires $56 plan - also didn't see that on the web site at first glance.
* 2 to 4 days to provision service - good, also not on web site, but helpful to know we can get service delivery before move in date.

Thanks Gary for getting Tom on the exercise. Much quicker than dealing with your email interface on the web site :)

TelstraClear: thanks for the feedback on the website.

You're welcome.  :)

While we're talking about coms...  can we have a little chat about phone numbers?

"I'm sorry... I can't transfer you to that person...." - what?!  A leading phone provider can't transfer a call?

Ok, I confess, I can transfer calls off my phone to anywhere in the world, but I just don't know how.  But does this make us look like idiots - yes.

"I'm sorry, you're on the wrong number, he's moved desks... earthquake" - Ok, two points, 1, this earthquake stuff is only going to wash for so long... and the rinse cycle has finished and the machine is beeping to put the washing on the line! 2. ok, he's moved desks... transfer the call?!

"Opps... he's got the wrong phone number in his signature...."  You what?!  Today I'm lighting up a service because the existing provider could not move the customers phone number from their current home to the new home.  I'm a tiny little operator...  Some even call me a cowboy, some might call me a one man band!

Two decades ago I was trained in Ericsson BCS150 and one of the coolest features was "extension swapping"...  but on smaller systems you'd just rejumper the extensions on the MDF and everyone keeps their existing numbers.

Seriously guys...  a decade ago I used to get emails from staff at Telstra in Australia worried about job losses and issues.  I'd know things weren't right when I'd get them because the rest of the time my public ranting would be written off as nothing more than whinging (which in many cases it is!).

But my inbox is filling again, and given the bumbling about just to connect one simple service....  is there any wonder why we're having trouble getting people excited about some aspects of technology?
