Hi,
I have the following devices:
Netgear TA612V - VOIP adapter with two phone ports, a WAN port and a LAN port
Netgear WGT624v3 - Wireless router with 4 LAN ports and a WAN port
Motorola modem for the Telstra cable service
This is what I want to do with the above - set up TA612V to be the primary router so that it can do the Qos stuff with Italk but with my LAN going through WGT624 as the gateway as that is the more flexible router for my other needs.
I have found some documentation on this, but nothing that is specific to NZ. There is something interesting on the Australian Netgear support site, particularly the link to a pdf labelled TA612V and BigPond Cable with existing NETGEAR Router.
I tried this setup by connecting the WAN port on the WGT624 to the LAN port of TA612V and enabling DHCP on TA612V. The WGT624 succeeded in getting the IP through the internet port but I can't ping any site from any computer on the LAN. Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something?
The pdf I mentioned earlier mentioned setting up port forwarding to forward Telstra Bigpond Cable heartbeats but I don't think this would apply here in NZ. I also called the Netgear support number but they weren't much help either - they suggested that I needed to do port forwarding as well for packets to get through to the TA612V and to ask Telstra what port it is that I need to forward.
This doesn't really make sense to me. Any ideas?
