Hi all,

I got a "friend" who's been having trouble with his Vodafone datacard. About two weeks ago it started saying he was connected at 384kbps, but when he went to download emails it tried to reconnect and timed out. This happened quite a lot, but in the last few days it's gotten worse, and is frequently dropping connections outright.

He has the same problems at home at work (both Central Wellington), as does a friend of his.

Vodafone retailer in Wellington says it's his computer. I know they're testing out the HSDPA tech at the moment, could this be causing the problems? Has anyone else out there had similar problems?

Welcome to Geekzone... I would say it could be related. Have you contact Vodafone directly through their phone service (not a store)?

It's important to let them know this is happening, so they know things need to be fixed (if it's on their side of things).

Another thing to do is to make sure your friend's laptop is running the latest version of their VMC software for the datacard.

Try the data card on another laptop and see what happens (check out the link below) this shows latest software and FW for the data card
