Hi There!

I am not sure if I am allowed to post something like this here, so I'll accept if it gets deleted.

I am posting it because in the last 7 days I have lost 16 phone calls due to a loss of signal. I know it's not at the other end because mostly they were landline numbers, and I was driving. I am feeling really frustrated because VF invariably add my requests to the list but years later the same blackspots exist (and in fact new ones seem to appear all the time).

1) 50M from the Kebab Stop in Mt Eden, driving down Mt Eden Road. Reported 10+ times.
2) Ian McKinnon Road half way down the 70KM/h area heading INTO the CBD, just before the traffic lights that allow you to turn up toward Newton Road.
3) Very top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge heading toward the CBD
4) Denbigh Ave, Mt Roskill, about 50M from the New World Intersection with May Road

I will take notes as to where the others are in the next few days but I nearly drove to a telecom store for a change to another network today I was so frustrated!

I am keen to see if others have a replicatable list of areas they lose signal every time they drive past a spot.

Can we add most of my house except for the front room, right up against the window?

Different handsets have different RF performance so first off quality of handset, On my SGII on the Bus I can hold a phone call from Albert Street outside the AA over AHB up Onewa Road along Birkenhead Ave onto Glenfield Road to Glenfield mall

Next not all Blackspots can be resolved where calls will drop, Generally these are caused because there is no cell to pass the call over to so call drops, These can be reported 30 times! It would take a new cell to resolve many of these handover dead spots, Take the North Western Motorway coming up to Te Atatu off Ramp heading west, Around here good chance a mobile call will drop, its a known and would require a new cell.

Vodafone has dedicated drive test teams across New Zealand checking reported dropped call areas but it's not possible to stop 100% of dropped calls, All mobile networks around the world have a DCR and the Vodafone NZ network is quite LOW compared to many networks around the world.

I could write for hours on this subject and how water impacts Radio signals and how all it takes is for Bod down the road to put another story on his house and now Mary his neighbour Mobile coverage is not as good as it use to be. Radio coverage foot prints even change between Summer and winter

The areas where calls never use to drop and coverage has reduced and the enviorment has not changed are the easy ones to fix as there must be a fault. This generally can be seen quite easily from checking the stats of the serving cell/s in that area and seeing if these have changed, IE reducded traffic all of sudden , DCR gone thru the roof ,

different networks have different RF performance too. i have no problems with the vodafone blackspots around or between my home and office when using either 2degree or telecom XT (even when using the same handset across all three networks). if you're finding dropouts a constant problem, grab a prepaid sim and see if a network switch will serve you better...

And whether it's GSM or 3G, as both networks are completely different. Different handsets will also have different characteristics if set to dual band mode.

I take it your mobile phone reception bars are next to nothing just before it drops out?

Hi There!

I have a bluetooth carkit (parrot) but the phone is mounted via air vent mount, and no it's not a painted case.

I previously had a i9000 and mostly the same issues.
