I have just received an e-mail from Vodafone with this content:

4 October 2006: We have a technical issue affecting our Prepay customers, particularly top ups, account balance information and delays in charging for text. We are working on fixing this and should have it up and running soon. We apologise for the impact on customers.

Customers will be charged as usual for all services during this period as soon as full service is resumed.

Be warned, and let everyone else know, to avoid the previous fiasco. Also, chiefie noted on his blog that Vodafone has posted a warning on their website.

UPDATE: This problem occurred in the early hours of this morning (4 October 2006).

Is this their multi million upgrade to the new billing system Cybill? What does or can it do anyway?

I can't expand much, but AFAIK this is not related to the new system, so no need to make it look bad.

Well really this is only a minor fault, it's not like people can't call or text - now that would be a real problem.

Its not their new billing system, but more about that will come shortly. Atleast this time there is a warning on the website frontpage saying we will charge you

By last time do you mean the time that people realized you could still SMS with no credit or?

Yeah, the website message will avoid some confusion. Would also be interesting to see if they have placed a message on the Prepay IVR - alas I dont have a prepaid to test with :P
