I'm in need of a mobile network specialist who would be willing to act as an expert witness. None of the NZ Forensic organisations Iv spoke to have the resources or the relevantly qualified staff to make technical statements of this particular nature. This is a network side job rather than a device side job.

You would need to have worked in the engineering department of a mobile carrier at some point or have experience working on the radio side of 2G/3G networks.

Separately - Someone from Spark who can confirm that particular circuits terminate at spceific roadside cabinets is needed. (information would only be expected upon receipt of a court order)

The requirements are that they have an advanced understanding of mobile network topologies, sectorial orientation, mobile triangulation, coverage and coverage maps, mobile hand-off and the factors to consider in order to validate geographic co-ordinates as being a true representation of location.

If you fit the bill then you would contract to an existing mobile forensics agency in NZ.

Unlike typical expert witness contracts where the expectation is that you work for the team hiring you - This role would NOT expect you to favour any particular conclusion - only that technical facts are confirmed/denied or validated.

This job is of a public interest nature and may grab the attention of the media. All efforts to contain the findings would be treated with the upmost security - However it would be useful if you were prepared to make public statements or were happy to consult a PR firm if the need arose.

You could always try contacting AUT - they have a Masters for Forensic IT, and have some VERY good students (I am doing the course).  Contact Brian Cusack.  The course covers expert witnesses and giving evidence.
