I have both a standard 2talk and mycloudtelco accounts and I want to get local wanaka numbers 03 443 XXXX.
These are in short supply and 2talk doesn't offer them they only offer 03 927 XXXX or other similar numbers beginning with 9 that nobody recognises as a local number.
Vodafone and Spark still have numbers but i suspect A) they got a block before they ran out and B) They are recycling numbers as people leave.

Is there some way that I can purchase these somewhere else, not be tied in for any length of time and port them over to another provider?

I have asked 2talk and they just keep saying they will have them when they can.

When a friend wanted a normal auckland number on their voip, the way we did it was call spark (was telecom at the time) and ask for a customerlink number, they will want another number to send it thru to and an account to bill it to. Don't mention porting to them since the first person started to get all confused by that.

Then port the number off that spark account to 2talk just like any other port.
