mattwnz: I found the upgrade went seamlessly, and all is working well. Like the new 3d effect on the flipping tiles.

Yeah the tile flip is kinda cool

All my updates since Oct last year have basically been fine on my main PC. Of course, there have been some bugs but nothing that really affected my daily operations.

OK, Spartan/Edge was REALLY buggy but even that is almost workable in 10074.

But seems as if some of you have had screwed up installs.

freitasm: Basically I will shutdown this tablet and start it up again when there's a new build. I don't have more time to waste on this now. There goes half of my Saturday and that's too much already.

maybe just wait for the final release so you're not wasting 1/2 of your Saturday :)

Sarcasm aside, time is money - and you know it too well. If someone is ok putting up with buggy dev previews, that's cool. I tried late to be on the safe side and found out it's not good enough yet. So not for me. Will be back later on at some time.

Not sure he was being sarcastic, just practical. I have an earlier build and it's rock solid, think you were just unlucky.

I think the sarcasm was the "wait for the final release so you're not wasting 1/2 of your Saturday".

Unlucky? Possible. But I can't spend more time on this. The alternative would be to install on better hardware but then it starts getting to "create full image backup in one of the laptops, install, restore if not ok" and then it's a lot more time - again time is a valuable currency.

As I said, it doesn't work for me on this hardware so will just skip it until more mature because the alternative is too costly in terms of time - hardware is cheap.

It's certainly not stable on my tablet, but its usable if I stuff around enough.  Usable as a main machine?  No way!

The previous builds (9***) I was able to roll back to Windows 8.1 pretty easy in pre-boot as Windows asked me if I wanted to boot the preview or roll back to Windows 8.1

I'm not going to move to Windows 10 on my main machine until 6 months after release I think (that said I'm an update junkie so it might be far sooner ;) )

I think the 'stable' talk is premature, or they're just on super generic hardware.

I have not had any problems so far on 1074 , I am running it on my daily i7 8gb 256gb ssd laptop. I think the 3d tiles rotating are a bit gimmicky but I do like the re occurrence of the Areo appearance.

The stock mail app works ok for me and I really like the ability of being to add my my Google calendar into the stock calendar so I get all my reminders.

Yes the old control panel is still there just start typing control in the new search bar at the bottom and it shows itself.

IMHO The 3D effect makes NO sense, think about it, the whole os is now based on flat design....now they're putting '3D' effects in...it's not consistent.  They need to express that same functionality within the bounds of the design language.

What annoys me is the transparent start menu! It's horrible, though they finally fixed some of the other display issues with it. There is a noticeable delay in getting it up though, perhaps half a second, it's distracting. I suspect it's caused by updating of the live tiles (Which is another idea I think is dumb).

Shaping up well I think. Will Surface Pro 4 be released with Windows 10 or before?

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

There has been an up surge in Surface Pro 3 advertisements, therefore I believe the release of the Pro4 will be sooner than later. Maybe late May or June.
