Hey Folks,

There is a bit going on at my work at the moment for corporate tablet deployment.

We are in a pretty specialised field and have some specific applications to deploy. The toss up is between iPad and Windows 8. The applications are available on both platforms (not Android until next year) so there is a two horse race between iPad and Win8. Win8 is certainly attractive from a back office administration perspective.

I am just interested in whether anyone around here has looked at the available tablet devices for Windows 8 and are looking at deploying these? I know it is early days!

Cheers, Matt.

For specific application deployment, I really would recommend the iPad.

Simplicity is king!

Are the Windows 8 applications RT or regular Win8?,

If they are full Win8 then they cost of the the tablets is likely to be significantly higher than an RT deployment.

We are going through a deployment of about 20 iPads at the moment using an app for a Microsoft product. At this stage it would have been so much simpler if we were using Windows tablets as things would just be working. At the moment we are trying to troubleshoot lots of intermittent issues which I believe would be much simpler if we had Microsoft across the whole stack.

Take a look at the HP Elitepad, has been designed around this exact market and can be fully customised with the Smart Jackets.

Not available until Q1 2013 but they look the businesses (if you'll pardon the pun)

HP have a slew of Windows 8 products coming out and they are really looking extremely compelling which is not something you could have said even six months ago.

Samsung have a nice Tablet/Ultrabook. I will get the model number this afternoon - It is a Win8 Tablet with a dockable keyboard - Looks really nice - about $1298 - Win8 Pro.

Saw it in JB HiFi yesterday.

Yeah. We are looking at running a trial with the Samsung Series 5 and an iPad. It will be mounted eventually so won't require a cover. The Windows platform allows the ability for us to just swap out our existing toughbooks with a tablet.

Thanks for the feedback so far.
