Got an new laptop to setup, but has come factory configured with the hard-disk partitioned - arhhh!
Is there a simple way to re-size Windows XP disk partitions, without buying some software or reinstalling Windows? Basically I want to extend drive c: (partition) to include all the (empty) space allocated to drive d: (partition).
Cheers

First of all, that "empty" partition may actually be the recovery partition. Most HP, Dell laptops come with this. So don't go erasing it before you are sure you can use it...

Check PartitionMagic, that will allow you to resize partitions on the fly.

It's not the recovery partition, Sony in their infinite wisdom just decided that the big hard-disk needed to be chopped in two for your inconvenience. Have looked at partition magic, but as it's a once off exercise, don't want to but any software to do it. So unless there is a cost free way of doing it, then a reinstall it will be.
