Hey guys.

Randomly tonight I got a message when I opened up my E-mails, saying I needed to update my security or something similar. I need to get a "code" sent to me from another E-mail address, which is an alternate E-mail address.

I cant get into that E-mail address because that also needs a code???

The alternative is to give them my phone number, I don't want to do that.

I cannot open my Emails now on my Laptop, but I can on my mobile no worries.

Why is this security measure popping up all of a sudden? Is there a way to get around it?

Thanks

When you give them your phone number they just send you the same code via text...not a big deal

its better to get them to dial a number with the code - more reliable than the SMS option. you get an automated phone call almost instantly, and the computer voice reads out numbers for you

Its two factor authentication, for your own security

Used somebody elses E-mail address to get a code sent to my alternate e-mail address to get a code sent to my main email address.

Wow. What a hassle.
