Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone had set up Vista MCE with a tuner card and used the line in function successfully.  Due to the limited channels available on the tuner, I was hoping to run my Sky output into the line in and control this via an Xbox 360 running as an extender.

Does anyone know if the the input will be recognised?  I used to use a firewire input (Sky composite -> digital vid cam 1349 -> PC), but I cannot seem to get the Media Centre to recognise this.

I don't want to go and purchase a tuner card if it isn't going to solve my problem...

Any input appreciated.

Cheers, Jason.

It works. You can only use it for the line input however not the tuner (but that seems like what you want).

The trick is to get the IR reciever for your media center remote to use the IR blaster to change the sky decoder channel.

Try googling "media center IR blaster tutorial" to get it working.

You will also need to turn off either the sky epg or the media center epg so that you don't have both media center AND sky displaying the channel information every time you change the channel.

If you do it correctly, you can control everything using the Media Center remote, without having to touch the sky one, it will change the channels etc automatically (best way to work with the scheduled recordings etc).

Excellent!  This is better than I had hoped for - I thought I would have to use Sky's remote to select the right channel and then set the recording times separately in the extender.

Thanks for your reply.

The answer is:  There are still monkeys and apes for the same reason that there are still British, even though my great grandfather was British and I am a Kiwi.
