Hi Folks,

So a few weeks ago while onsite with a client in Japan I could happily update the box from Windows 7 Home to Pro so that I could use remote desktop and powershell, today when I tried to do the same to a box in Auckland Microsoft tell me "Anytime upgrades are not available in New Zealand- contact a local MS Partner". I do this and am told I can not purchase anything for Windows 7 any more but I can purchase a Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 32/64 Bit DVD XP/Vista/7 Upgrade Pack $499. WTF? $499 would cover me flying there and reinstaling Windows 7 Pro from scratch for a day...is that price correct?

I ramble across to Dick Smith and can see a 8.1 Pro Upgrade disk for $299, I wonder can this product key work for Windows 7 upgrades too?

I heard the other day Microsoft has stopped selling windows 7 it the end of October

You can still buy it from places that have stock, only MS stopped selling it.
I guess it's the end of the anytime upgrade since that comes straight from them.
