Hi All

Havent posted in a while, a friend of mine has recently aquired a new lappy and it came with Vista.
So far I havent actually had much of a look, except for a basic poke around in stores.

My question is, does it really matter if you buy an upgrade box?
or
should I go buy the full retail box.

My computer is in need for a bit of a reformat ( I try to do this every 8 months of so anyway )
I only have XP Home ( since I dont get too worried about OS, as long as its legal!)

The only disadvantage I can see is that I would have to install XP then upgrade to vista, which might be more time consuming?
Any comments of suggestions would be awesome

If you do not mind spending a bit more time, and saving yourself money (that's me).

Then I would get the upgrade. I have a Vista Business upgrade, and it only adds an extra 5-10 minutes to install XP first.

Does the upgrade use my original XP key as some sort of reference
or is it a key in its own right?

I have a legal Home XP copy, so not to worry Cool

Sounds pretty good, Im quite keen to get it actually

It has its own key.

I am not sure if this is legal? But I still use my XP on another HDD and get updates for both with no problems :)

vista upgrades can be upgraded from

1) earlier version of windows
2) an UNACTIVATED version of vista!

so - install vista with no upgrades and no key and no activation (preferably install the version that you have the key for but dont enter the key)

then insert the dvd from within vista and upgrade away!

*tsk dear admin - pardon my ignorance if proven but i have googled and no one says this is illegal, so don't be harsh!
