I am trying to Install Office pro plus for a new Charity that is being setup to help the underprivilled. They have Volume Licensing Serial numbers and can not get a version to download that will work. The downloaded version says the serial number provided is a volume license version and will not here.

The microsoft online chat rep has just give me an number to ring in the States but after spending the last 2 nights on something which should not be hard I am asking for any suggestions.

The Charity is a 3 person organisation that is going to do great work and if anybody can point me the right direction to get this sorted locally this would be great. It is not helped by me also starting a new job this week so if you can help Please.

The online downloads won't work with volume licensing unless you are naughty and can find a volume licensing copy from a less legit place.
They should have had the disc but I'm not sure what you can do if Microsoft won't provide a CD for them. Unless you take the hint from my first sentence.

Try and get their login to the Volume Licencing Centre (I think that is what it is called). From there you should be able to download the appropriate version of Office.

What type of key are you using? a MAK or KMS? Typically when installing Pro Plus you won't be asked for a serial key during install and will need to manually enter the key after if it is using a MAK rather than KMS.

On a side note is Volume license really worth it for 3 users?

I am on the sideline trying to help so they have probably got the licenses from a Organisation they are associated with and are now wondering why this wont work. Up until this week it was one person but they have gone to 3 people and will be doing some great work to help the community. I have not dealt with Volume licensing for sometime so the comments are great.

Was it purchased from Techsoup? Can they supply the media or ISO?

I too have had similar issues with a customer of that size.
I was trying to install on a new W7 machine.

In my case I had to use office 2010 as 2013 just would not work, took too long to install on slow ADSL connection which supprised me as they we in Auckland city.

Step 1 - uninstall all versions of MS Office.

Step 2 - if office 2013 was installed use the Office 2013 removal tool. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501

Step 3 - Log into the volume license center.

Step 4 - Activate the key for office 2013 ( I think that is correct, it has been about 6 months ) ( it will be the one with 50 CALS )

Step 5  - Download the installer file

Step 6 - install office

Step 7 - Activate office with the key you activated above.

Should all be good now if everything goes well.

office 2013 is a bit of a pain accross the board, it is still a buggy piece of software, I still prefer office 2010, a lot more stable and looks better.

I hope that helps.

John
