I wonder what death defying pain in the proverbial, acts are going to have to be endured to transfer outlook 2103 to 2016 !! Has anyone tried to transfer yet?

What do you mean by transfer?

Just download office 2016 on to the machine and open outlook.

you really should consider changing to an exchange account... no more .pst files to worry about, everything in synch across all devices etc

As long as you stick to the same edition, "32 bit" or "64 bit" the upgrade is trivial and painless.

Haven't really seen any significant issues with Outlook upgrade paths in about 10 years, tbh.

When I see comments like "trivial and painless" and "no real issues" I think I wonder what planet they are from? or "yes but my degree is in business not computer science from MIT (the American One)

A quick trip to our lord and master .......... Google , will find any number of articles discussing issues, problems, roll backs etc.

I know I am usually wrong, but they all cant be?

Lets take one small item of outlook signature files I have about 50 in use. Do they automatically get moved to 2016 or do you have to find them then copy them then find the new location on 2016 and transfer them.?

Anyway I will wait for a rainy weekend do my backups then give it a go

As always Thanks for all your comments

The upgrade to 64-bit Outlook 2016 when it was first released was totally painless for me. No problems since.

For the non-technical savvy/non-power user, I'd recommend sticking with 32-bit Office to maintain compatibility with add-in's.

Yeah, I should have worded my comment differently. I wasn't suggesting an upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit Office, I was answering the original post.

My upgrade from 64-bit Office 2013 to 64-bit Office 2016 has been totally problem free.

I just ran the installer for the new version.....job done.
No need to uninstall the old version, or do anything special.

Just install it over the top.

My signatures, personal macro workbooks and everything just worked.

Were you holding your breath?! Sounds good though I might just bite the bullet and give that way a go

only trouble I have had with 2016 is trying to save documents to onedrive and getting the "Another user has changed the server copy" error. I disabled "use office to work on files with other people at the same time" setting in onedrive and so far all seems ok
