Hey guys,

Just wondering if there was a way to lock the size of the text boxes in powerpoint so the text would change it's size automatically to fit in the box so it doesn't go over any images or anything else like that?

Thanks in advance.

Um... that would be under 'AutoFit'.

In Office 07: [right click] > Format Shape > Text Box

You then have 3 options:
  • Do not AutoFit (which results in text overflow)
  • Shrink text on AutoFit (which I think is what you want)
  • Resize shape to fit text (which resizes shape according to text length)
Not sure about other Office versions...

Office 2007 made "Autofit" much more accessible.  It is still possible in previous versions of Office, but harder to do and less flexible -- generally limited to special template features called "placeholders" rather than applying to text boxes.

If you're using a version prior to Office 2007, then Google "autofit text to placeholder", along with the version of Office that you're using, and you'll find lots of hopefully useful sites.
