So I have installed the Anniversary Update (Windows 10 Pro - not domain joined).

Before the update i had it configured to prompt to schedule a restart after updates (Rather than automatically). That option is now gone leaving two other settings: Active Time and Custom Restart Time.

It won't allow you to set your Active Time to anything more than 12 hours, which is no good as that leave a huge 12 hour Window when it might restart.

Custom Restart Time seems like an acceptable option, except it is greyed out and I can't enable it.

Has anyone else found that the Custom Restart Time options are greyed out on Window 10 Pro Anniversary Update? If so, have you found how to fix it?

That still allows it to automatically do it's thing though doesn't it? IE: auto download and install?

I want to set a custom restart time.

I had windows update set to download updates, but not install unless i commanded it to.

This option is no longer 'active' in the windows update menu, however it is still functioning as i had it setup before the Anniversary update.

Is that by setting your connection to metered in the registry?

Funny you should mention this, I was just looking at those new options a few seconds ago after testing a fresh made W10AU build CD (lots faster than the SCCM->Update we were using) and have the same outcome.

I forsee a patch in the future...

Hah. Sure enough, some patches applied after a forced check and I can now enable it

/edit it was pending a reboot. So it may well be a case of disabled while background checking

... And now its greyed out again.

It's only enabled when updates are pending a reboot. Not outside this time

(I guess we both skipped reading the text advising of CURRENT updates)

That's how it works, you can only set a custom restart time once all updates have finished downloading and Windows Update has set the default restart time outside of your active hours.

Group policy editor only works in Pro and Enterprise editions I think...

This thread offers ways to set a metered connection allowing for control of Windows Updates and other automatic updates.

It's just changing the value to 2 for the ethernet entry in the DefaultMediaCost folder but you still need correct ownership etc to do that. The thread where I found this is around, I just have to dig it up.
