Hi all,

I am trying to locate a (safe!) screensaver for my Win 7 HTPC which displays high resolution photos from one or various web sources (I have no specific sources in mind). Something akin to the photos that a Chromecast shows when you are not casting content to it.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Doesn't MS have something similar our win10 desktop has different images on some sort of timetable. May be available for 7.

I'm not sure sorry but it is a screensaver I am wanting, not for my wallpaper photo to change.

I'm not sure sorry but it is a screensaver I am wanting, not for my wallpaper photo to change.

Don't know about an external source but you can get your screensaver to show photos and set a source directory for them (well you can in Win 10 anyway)

just download the photos throw them in a folder and point windows at it for the screen saver.

i do the same thing but for wallpapers as i dont use a screen saver.

Thanks for the suggestion but I want a very hands off solution that pulls from a wide selection of photos that I do not have to download and store.

In the end I found Photo Screen Saver in the Chrome store which is partly achieving what I want. Unfortunately the screen saver doesn't operate when I have Windows Media Center in full screen though.

It's completely unsupported (and a little risky) but I know the Screensaver portion of Google's Picasa can be found online and copied into C:\Windows\System32 - or you could install the full Picasa application and grab the GPhotos.SCR file before uninstalling.

I'm at work at the moment but from memory it'll allow Google Plus/Picasa (of course), local folders, or... an RSS feed of images.

Might be worth a look to see if it meets your needs.

IIRC, Chromecast just displays 'editors choice' photos from 500px.

Haven't used it, but this appears to do similar:

Sorry have been away from GZ for a few days... Just wanted to say that this is the solution I have landed on for now. Amazing videos that keep me entertained like a child for hours! Thanks again @trig42 for the recommendation.

When I finally get sick of the same videos I will continue to search for an appropriate web based photo screen saver.

JBS is awesome, but it only changes the background. It is not a screensaver.

Ha, all good - I quite like just sitting there looking at it to. Mesmerizing. There are quite a few flyovers.

If you have dual screens, you get a different one on each screen.
