I have just built a new (old) computer using a Foxconn board with a 3GHz pentium. Loaded XP pro sp2 all works OK but I can't get any sound when playing home recorded DVD (R+) Comercial DVD's play fine I can't figure out what it might be, I changed from the onboard realtek sound chip to a SB 0410 same problem. Any Ideas??

You are probably missing some decoder? Try installing FFDShow and see how it goes.
