I have a Lexar 128 GB USB 3 memory stick that will only work when I plug it into a USB 2 port. It will not work on my USB 3 port. I have tested my USB 3 port with other types of memory sticks and everything works fine. I'm running windows 10 64 bit Home. Can't find anything on google for my problem. Any clues any one?

Does the flash drive work on another PC?

Were any of the other flash drives you tested USB 3.0 flash drives as they use a different set of protocols to communicate with the host.

Have you installed drivers for USB 3.0 on your system?

Do you get anything in the system tray about USB resources when you plug it in? Intel chipsets are huge problems for not enough endpoints if you have more than about 10 or so devices connected to a computer, might just be hitting the limit with the extras that USB3 needs to work.

I have 2 USB 3 ports on the rear, neither work with the problem memory stick, but any other USB 3 device, memory stick and portable drive work. The two ports on the front are USB 2, they do work with the problem stick

Nothing comes up on the task bar when I plug the problem drive in. It does light up so current getting to it. Anything else plugs in does come up on the task bar

I found this error message in the device properties.

Device USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_Lexar&Prod_USB_Flash_Drive&Rev_1100\AAB3F89R0J6787B8&0 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

Do you happen to have a Linux live dvd or usb to try - at least that would establish whether it's a Windows 10 issue?

If you don't mind a bit of registry hackage, if it doesn't want to uninstall/rollback totally..

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses

And then the string will be found under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB

I downloaded and run a linux live file. USB drive not detected. Other usb drives were.

I also found a microsoft forum with lots of people having the same issue. It seems the latest version of windows 10 might be the culprit. Although its weird I can access the the drive from a USB 2 port. I would have have thought Linux should see it in any port also. Is there a linux limitation in the size memory stick it can see. My stick is 128 GB.

Sorry, I can't help there.  I have never used a memory stick over 32 gb.
