I was playing a graphics intensive game and the computer kept crashing.

The only thing in common in the event viewer was this line

" msvm_containersystem //./root/virtualization namespace does not exist "

The only virtual machine thingy that I have is Hyper-V that I am not using but I have now disabled ...

The only other thing that keeps giving a red sign was "bonjour" but I can't see that being timed with my crashes ...

Any advice appreciated

Never say never, but I can think of a a heap of other things I'd think of first.

If the game crashes to desktop, there's a very good chance the game itself is buggy (this is far more common these days than most people think, even with AAA titles), or possibly driver related (make sure running most recent drivers for your GPU)

If the actual PC is restarting/locking up under heavy graphics load, my first thought is failing PSU, followed by overheating or dying GPU.

could be any of those.

- updated driver

- completely reinstalled game

- did a GPU stress test of a few hours - no issues

and because of this, and the error codes, I've narrowed down to buggy game vs hyper-V. which is very weird. anyway, i've disabled hyper-V so let's see.

I doubt it is related to your crashes, or to Hyper-V.. not all apps write to the event log.

Windows store apps run in their own app container so probably related to that.

Could it be some buggy DRM or anti-cheat system which is trying to check if it is running in a VM?

That's quite possible!
Anyway I've disabled hyper-v.
Let's see what happens

ok it's still crashing for no reason, just get flung back to windows desktop when it happens.

i have stress tested the GPU with valley benchmark for hours with no issue

but ... could it still be the GPU or is it most unlikely?

Keep task manager running to check if you are running out of memory (RAM) or signs of memory leak?

Can you rule out overheating on the GPU?

I see you ran the Valley Benchmark with no issues, so I wonder if it is overheating during game play.

Do you know what FPS you get when playing? I only ask as I once played a game that had to be frame locked otherwise it would try render as many frames as possible, upwards of 7000 FPS and crash.

I have a GPU monitoring panel, nothing spikes during the crash

temps are a steady 70C

voltage (1.03-1.05), power % (110-116%), GPU frequency, RAM frequency, temp, everything is steady
