when ever i go to browse my music folder on my PC i get an app crash of explorer exe.
with microsoft security essentials i have scanned and found no viruses anywhere on my pc.
i have used cc cleaner but problem still persists. this only just started happening today, after i added my Dj Spinatik folder of music off my other laptop. this folder was included in the virus scan though...
i heard you can delete the entry in the registry to fix this issue?
can someone please help me fix this annoying app crash !
thanks in advance

Perhaps is probs persist you can try a restore to an earlier date a few days prior to adding the folder. That would eliminate the folder if probs persist after you wound the clock back to the last restore point.

this isnt unusual for a music folder, change the view/properties or drop some of the details columns. Windows likes to try and read all the file attributes, mp3 tags etc which can cause explorer to hang then crash.

It appears there's a known problem somewhere with Microsoft Security Essentials causing explorer.exe crashes. I was having explorer.exe crashes myself too.

I am part of an ongoing MSE Beta (which means I have a couple of MSE versions ahead of the public release) and this was solved in an update to be distributed very soon.

Along the same lines as the OP, whenever I open a folder of mpeg files on my camcorder, or if I've copied them to the pc, it crashes explorer almost every time. I had to kill some of the details columns to make sure these folders didnt hang or crash. Very fustrating!

Will the update come as part of the normals Windows 7 update process?
