I'm helping a friend who recently returned from overseas and when she fired up her laptop there were quite a few MS updates.  

She tells me she clicked 'yes' to everything (not being technically inclined!) and now Outlook 2007 has a corrupted .DLL file and says that Outlook needs to be reinstalled.

The problem being she doesn't have any disks (she tells me that she never got any when she bought the laptop new about 2 years ago).

Any ideas on how to work around this?

Her laptop is running on Vista.

Probably an OEM copy which will be included on a system restore CD/DVD/Partition. However if it is a restore job, then you cant just install Outlook on its own, youd need to start from scratch with the whole system.

go into Add/Remove programmes and try to do a Repair of Outlook or Office

That should sort it

Yeah sounds like the office 60-day trial version, she should have the licence key somewhere for it. If the above Repair doesn't work, just download the 60-day trial and enter the licence key

Also if it was a full version included with her laptop, then I would imagine the binaries are located somehwere on the hardrive. If you try and do a repair the install files should have a local 'cached' copy so the install can find them if it needs to change anything.
