Got xp pro sp3 with new install of outlook 2010, outlook set up with connection to exchange 2003 server, all working fine apart from having no email addresses.  Type the first letter of email address into new email and nothing comes up automatically.  I have a backup of the previously used nk2 file on outlook 2007 which contains all these addresses, copied it to the applicationdata/outlook dir but outlook 2010 fails to recognise it.  Is there anyway around this?  I have a customer breathing down my neck asking for his addresses.

Did you follow this:

I did that the other day for a customer and it worked.

All you need to do is copy the .NK2 file over into the same location on the new PC, and make sure the filename is the same as the profile name.

Thanks, I managed to get it working. I renamed the nk2 file to [profilename].nk2, you can find out your outlook profile name by going into control panel, mail, then profiles. In my case is was outlook.nk2

Then run "outlook.exe /importnk2"

Its on this page aswell I found after searching google a bit:
http://clintboessen.blogspot.com/2010/05/how-to-import-nk2-files-into-outlook.html

I also ended up having to do a clesn install of xp pro sp3 because of other unrelated problems, main problem was previously created word xp 2002 documents not opening in word 2010 and causing it to crash.

Trawled google and found lots of info relating to fixes, eg deleting reg keys, removing type 1 fonts, installing updates, disabling a-v software etc... nothing worked but a reinstall of xp sp3 did.
