Hi everyone

I've recently installed WinXP to a NEC Versa E2000 laptop, using my disk and the owner's activation key.  I then downloaded drivers from the NEC site, however I can't figure out how to install the Touch pad driver.

It's a zipped file, but so was the modem.  All I did for the moedm driver was double click on the file, and it extracted then asked if I wanted it to run (or something similar), then installed.  The Touch Pad files extract, but then I don't know what to do.

The driver is here: http://www.nec-computers-ap.com/driver.htm

Many thanks.

Have a look in the extracted files and there should be a Setup.exe file that you can run.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Hmm - I looked for a set up file - but maybe it's called something else.

Thanks

After downloading the file, doubleclick it in order to start driver extraction.
Goto->device manager->update driver->manually choose to install driver from specific location and browse to folder where inf file is extracted to update driver.

was written on the download page?

Oh dear - very red faced here!!   I didn't notice that.  I'll go around and try that when she's free.

Many thanks.

I looked in device manager but the touch pad isn't listed.  Tried add hardware also - but anyway she's happy using the mouse now.

Thanks for trying to help

I didn't go into BIOS as it booted from CD without issue (I think) - been a while will have to check my notes.  Yes she didn't even own a mouse as always used the Touch pad.

It must need a driver as there's one listed on their website ...  however next time I'm around there I'lll try the function keys.  Hopefully it as simple as that :-)

Thanks very much for your input.

Thanks.  I've googled and found a driver - will post back after I've attempted to install it.
