hi, bit of a trouble going on here.
I have a Toshiba M50 running XP.
I have been getting a blue screen of death and physical memory dump. with the BSOD saying tcpip.sys
If I knew how to upload a picture onto here I would because I got out the digital camera last time it happened. If you want it I can email it to you.
I get this problem every 1-2 weeks or so when I my laptop should be coming out of "sleep" when I have shut it.
I went into the Toshiba shop today and the guy said to reinstall from scratch and dont install itunes and it has been doing this with a few computers. I really do not want to go the the hassle of re-installing everything.

Can anyone out there help?

Just my 2c may or may not work, think it helped someone out before somewhere else out there.
Completely unistall your network card drivers, restart and reinstall as per instructions?

nope, managed to do that a couple of days ago but still got the same old BSOD yesterday.
anyone else got 2c?

Maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to back your stuff up and reinstall windows?

just an update with more info.
i ran the Network Diagnostics tool and it said that my computer failed "pinging" 192.168.1.4, this is the ip address that i have been assigned (looking at my wireless tool)
i dont know if i should be able to ping this address or not but i thought id put the info out there.

oh yea, i am trying to find a mate with a external hard dirve to try the whole backup/restore thing.

ok, have done a clean install from the recovery disk on the day after my last post.
Just got my first blue screen back.
what do people think? hardware fault?

It could be recently installed software or drivers causing the problem.

If it is still under warranty i would take it back to the place of purchase. Explain that you have done a fresh install and it hasnt solved the problem. Then again this BSOD could be a one off random error. BSOD's on XP are not very common. The only time ive had them was on my laptop when the fans got so clogged up with dust the thing started overheating. But thats whats happens when you have a P4 3.4Ghz in a cramped up laptop

i updated firefox today? other than that the only thing i have installed since the day i put everything back on is Xvid codec. i will try and take it in.

That sounds as a hardware fault. I would start investigating memory or CPU overheating, then HDD failure.

hey mate try Ubuntu Linux or get a retail copy of XP and install all the drivers manually (which costs alot)
the OEM distribution of XP that comes with the M50 is buggy as hell, my mum has one and its still not running right after a few re-installs from the recovery CD. printers wont install, all the power managment functions are bung.. its a mess.
