Is there such a thing? Requirements are to be able to send files from one person to another (and vice versa) directly, encrypted and over the Internet.

Skype is being used at the moment, but is there something simpler even than that?

Oh OK... a website would work. Thanks for that.

Have you seen a standalone client though?

Wow - dead simple (so easy that I had to check the documentation because there was so little effort involved) and seems to work really well. One gotcha is to make sure that Windows Firewall is set up right for the Hamachi virtual network adapter. Very neat idea!

I've used Hamachi for a few months and love it.

I use scp alot for this. scp is an SFTP client. SSH provides this.
Filezilla is an SFTP client for Windows, among other things. http://filezilla.sf.net
but you will need an SFTP server to connect to. cygwin will let you easily install SSH on a Windows PC.

edit: ignore me :) hamachi looks like a nice solution

Yep, scp is nice but the idea was not to run a server. Hamachi seems to fit the bill better.

Hamachi looks like a good program for VPN too.

For months I have tried to set up a VPN between my windows PC and a Linux Box at the office, and it looks like this will do the trick (better have a Debian package for it though!).

Now I can finally use that colour laser printer from home, instead of my crappy inkjet that can't even print lines and text straight!.
