The question is whther someone could recommend me a good program for manipulating photograps... something like photoshop...

two options:

1. Photoshop (pay for it, its great)
2. http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

The "GIMP" (which actually means "Graphic Image Manipulation Program", dontcha just love those open source acronyms?) is a wonderful FREE! alternative to Photo shop but has a steep learning curve, well it did for me but that may say more about me than the program. If you just want to do basic stuff then I recommend Irfanview, www.irfanview.com , with all the plug ins installed.

Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 is pretty good too...

Adobe Photoshop Element 4 is good for starter if you cannot afford Adobe Photoshop CS2 (but you will learn to appreaciate Adobe Photoshop CS2's tools if you learn them).

All the above mentioned softwares have their trial download, so feel free to try them out before making the final decision. And most often, if you only need it for short while to do quick manipulation, be cheeky and download trial for 30 days or 180 days whichever the limit. :-)

irfan is a good freebie for basic stuff and another I have heard but not yet tried is picasa (from google)
