Might be something obvious I'm overlooking.

I'm trying to remote desktop connect one of the pcs on my network (all windows 7) and it wants a password from the remote pc. The remote pc isnt set up with one though. When i login, i enter the pc name (no other users on remote pc other than admin) and leave password blank, but it wont accept it.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Steve

From memory, W7 RDP has a PW policy set.

You will have to give it a password, even if its set to auto-login/not ask for password just to keep it happy

It also has to be pro/ultimate

"You can't use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to a computer using Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, or Windows 7 Home Premium."

Quick google suggests this has your answer.

In Windows XP, and I presume in later versions, not having a Windows user password was the main way to prevent someone remotely logging into your system.

Instead of a username of just 'username', try 'machinename/username'

That is, set the domain of the username to the remote machine.

You have to have a password on the user account that you are trying to connect to remotely.

+1 to having to have a password on the RDPable account.
