Morning Team. I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend of mine. He has two computers,A laptop and a PC and both running identical operating systems (Windows 7 ) He can email me from the laptop and attach a file and I receive the email no problem but when he tries to email me from the PC the attachment is missing.Both machines are using Microsoft outlook for email. Has anyone heard of this happening before?? Thanks in advance for any help.

What version of outlook is he running, some versions have been known to block access to suspicious files but I don't know if it did it when sending them as well as receiving them.

Also, is he using Exchange services, or SMTP? Is it the same configuration in both laptop and desktop?

ANti-virus package stripping them ?

The more recent versions of Outlook / Exchange will block .exe, .bat and certain other attachments by default. Maybe even no extension files were blocked. . No error message, no notification, no nothing.

Zip files, office documents are usually OK.

There is a registry mod for this to allow certain extensions to be made available.

Had this issue about a year when colleagues were e-mailing certain file types. Email would come thru, but no attachment.

Yeah I thought that but he turned it off and tried and got the same result
