And, how is it set up?

I use Ubuntu 10.10, under GNOME, so I use Compiz, with the GTK window decorator (the default, as opposed to Emerald). I used to have animations aplenty, but decided they were tacky. All I got is the Exposé-style Scale, and a custom window switcher. Oh, and Desktop Cube. Can't forget that. :D

As a failsafe, I have Metacity with compositing enabled.
(I tried xfwm4, but it needed too much xfce/xubuntu stuff to be functional and customizable.)

For the bulk of my time I just use a standard Ubuntu desktop with most animations turned off. But more interestingly I have a really old laptop that I use the insanely lightweight WM on - WMII http://wmii.suckless.org/ - quite a steep learning curve but I find myself wishing i had some of the features on my ubuntu desktop, mostly a tiling window manager that is always maximizing available desktop space.

Having switched to Linux Mint 10, I use Compiz full time, cause now I don't have to worry about removing all the add-ons I compiled.
Also, I meant "manager" it the topic title. :P

I'll always be a windowmaker user.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.
