Got the HDD cable problem with my Macbook. People are trying to sell them on trademe for $90 which is way too much. Found one on Amazon delivered to NZ for $40.

Does anyone have an idea if i can get one in NZ for around $40 or somewhere online for less than $40?

I do have a couple of trips to the states by the end of the year and could just pick one up when i get there but would like to have this fixed.

any help would be great

It sounds like you already answered your own question.
Get the one from Amazon for $40.

Why suffer from performance problems and perhaps even loss of data when you probably aren't going to get a much better deal by waiting?
While you have the back cover off you might want to install an SSD if you haven't already.

Yeah i picked up a SSD today as i thought it was the hard drive but then found out that it was ok when connected external to the USB drive.

Looking forward to the SSD being installed.

Not sure if that $40 includes postage, but FWIW there's some on eBay that'd cost you about $50 _including_ postage.
