Is there a simple way to do this?

I have a Lexmark printer that I need to use. I have 10.4.11 and I'm told by Lexmark support that they don't have a driver for it.

It does not currently work. I don;t have the money to buy a printer that will work so I'm wondering if there's a workaround of any sort for this.

Mark.

Are you wanting to downgrade from Vista to XP?  Please give us more details:)

If it is downgrading from Vista to XP, there are heaps of forum posts on this here and also on other internet forum sites.  Google it:)

As this is in the MAC OS forum, and they say 10.4.11, I would guess at they are wanting to downgrade from Mac OSx, to OS9?

you should be able to change your apt sources -- e.g. substitute gutsy with feisty, do an apt-get update... then explicitly choose the ubuntu-desktop metapackage by version. It'll then pull down the old feisty sources. if you upgraded previously the old debs are in /var/cache something anyways, so probably nothing to download.

(heh.. wonder what OS this person is using).

People, people...

heavenly_wild: this is the Mac OS X forum, so the OP is talking Mac OS X, now Windows.
rscole86: I think it's downgrade from 10.4 to 10.3 - not all the way to OS 9!
taniwha: this is not Linux!

Now that everyone is on the same page, constructive help please?

Thought it was pretty obvious I meant Mac OS. Of course I've no idea how far I have to go back but I do know that 10.3 did work. My intel machine will not run OS9 and I wouldn't want to go there anyhow. This is all academic now anyway because I'll attempt to print the documents using my old powerbook. Which I believe may have a dead LCD inverter btw so I can't see the screen so it's not exactly a simple solution.
Anyone know where I can get a powerbook DVI 867 titanium LCD inverter?

i'd have a look at the apple support forums if i were you.  a lot of people had problems with 10.4.11 and even 10.4.10.  from memory there are ways to get back to 10.4.* you will just need to do some digging on their support pages.
