I can't seem to get my gmail mail to come through to my apple mail

I can go to g-mail on chrome and get mail but the mail won't come through to apple mail like they have done up until tonight

It did come up asking for the passwords for my old ihug accounts - which i didn't know, but i have deactivated those accounts now

but it is not asking me for my passwords for my 2 gmail accounts.... everytime I click on 'get new messages' it just comes up with no new messages.... and I know there are new e-mails in Gmail but they won't come through to apple mail

I've tried everything, but can't see anywhere in apple mail where I can enter / retype my password or something to get my mail to come through.

Can someone please help?

I have a mackbookpro 2O12 if that helps

thanks in advance

Have you tried removing the accounts completely within the Settings app? That'll force it to re-authenticate during the setup process so may be worth a try.

Have you turned off untrusted Apps in Gmail and tested?

I have been having Gmail issues all day on my note 10 (not syncing unless I manual do it). Normally it's pushed. Ended up installing Outlook app and now getting sync'd emails now

ok thanks for the replies

I am a bit reluctant to remove the accounts then try to reinstall them.... but if it's not working tomorrow I may have to do that

I would try the following:

  1. Head to System Preferences
  2. Click Internet Accounts (it has a blue @ symbol/icon)
  3. Find the Google accounts on the left which are giving you grief
  4. Click one of those accounts, and see what's checked/ticked from the list of Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Notes
  5. Untick and then re-tick one of them (preferably not Mail just in case that removes it from your Mac)
  6. Wait a couple of minutes and see if it brings up the weird mini Safari window with the standard Google login screen

Failing that, you'd probably need to remove and then re-add the account via the page on step 2 above.

thanks - I tried that and from memory everything was ticked except notes.... I unticked them and re-ticked them and it did bring up a mini safari screen - but that did nothing as I use google chrome and not safari and all it did was ask me if I wanted to use safari as my default browser - which I don't

I may have to uninstall them then re-install them, but one of the g-mail accounts I cannot remember the password for, so I don't know how I'm going to be able to do that if I can't remember the password....

I'll see how I get on tonight when I try it at home (I'm at work at the moment)
