hello all!
ok, short and simple...i just got a mac, used to have a dell and used frontpage. now i am using dreamweaver. i revamped my original site on dreamweaver and THE MAJORITY the photos that i upload from my mac to my site do not show up on pc computers.  i contacted mac and my hosting company and they had me sync my site to dreamweaver which i did and i am still having the same problems. the html code looks perfect and correct and it appears that everything should be fine. what on earth could be the problem.  i have built many sites from home, self taught, and i have never had issues like these until switching to the mac and using dreamweaver.
anyone who uses dreamweaver to build their site or knows what the problem could be PLEEEEEASE RESPOND. i am desperate as.

Ok, so I use my mac for webdesign and it would be very unusual for pictures to show on only one OS. Is there a way I could see the site your are referring to, or at least the HTML? This would help to diagnose the problem better. PM me if you like.
I would have a guess that the photos may be working for you, since they are on your local machine, but haven't been uploaded properly. If its possible to see the html this would make it easier to tell :)

Your images are strange and hardly anything can actually view them for some reason.. maybe your've uploaded them in ascii or something strange like that..

Do you REALLY want a 500K JPG image as your first image people view on the home page?

i have never had a problem using a large graphic for my home page. and i like the look of it, its very high fashion and what i'm going for with what i do.what is ascii? ive never heard of that. is there anyway to find out what the exact issue is and trouble shoot some how?
i use photoshop to create images and save as jpg by flattening layers.
i create my site in dreamweaver and try to upload from there however i used transmit before syncing my site.
i am desperate and appreciate the help.

Hi,

I'm going to have to agree with LennonNZ. I've looked at the site and ruled out the HTML, the Server, and Browser. It appears that IE just doesn't like the format of those images.

What application are you using to prepare your graphics? I suspect the issue lies with how the images are being created/exported for use - the issue only appears to effect the larger images.

I found that If I use Photoshop to re-export those images they will then work fine.

okay, so ive noticed that the only images affected and that wont show up are those that were created using layers in photoshop cs3. is there a special way to save layered images so that they will show up? maybe i am saving them incorrectly. i usually edit the images they way i like them, flatten image and then save as a jpg and then upload to my site.
what does re-export using photoshop mean? sorry, if i sound uneducated but i kinda am. :)
i dont mind recreating the images the correct way and then saving them the correct way, i just need to know what to do.
thanks again for the help.

Theres no problem having your source photoshop files in layers. But when you want to save a copy ready for use on a website try using the 'Save for Web & Devices' option (in the file menu) instead instead of just saving as a jpeg.

This option allows you to choose between several image formats and see optimisations applied as previews and how they effect image quality and file size.
