Hi,

Can anyone tell me if this will be available in-store at a reseller on Friday, calls to local resellers have been less than fruitful, most seem not to even realise the OS is being released... including it seems MagnumMac.

Would be hard to know. I'd ring magnum mac and ask if I was you.
I pre-ordered mine on the NZ apple store, and it says it will ship on or before friday, so i'm pretty confident that I'll get it by saturday at the latest. Apple has super-speedy shipping of there goods.

I'm pretty sure the guys at Magnum Mac Nemarket are getting them Friday/Saturday. Best retail store to get it from I think.

Cheers guys, much appreciated.

My phonecalls to all the Wellington resellers (including MagnumMac, Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman) and the apple 0800 number have been less helpful than your kind selves.

Specifically their collective response has been: "ummmmm not sure whether we will have it in store" and "when is it being released again?"

So I guess my best bet is going to be to go into MM tomorrow morning.

A friendly guy at DSE has told me that according to their press information the shipment arrives into customs tomorrow (Friday) morning in Auckland.

I'm guessing that if I want to buy a new Mac with Snow Leopard pre-installed it will take another month or two for retailers to turn over old stock?

I'm wondering if I should try and get a machine with it pre-installed or whether I should just take up the $20 upgrade offer.

If you order through Apple (online in NZ) I would imagine anything they ship after Friday will come with SL, but the retailers will try and palm you off with the old version. That has been my experience anyway, just check when you order the computer on the apple website, if it says it comes with SL it will.

Add: the os went golden master a couple of weeks ago (? timeframe), which means they have been adding it to systems for a wee while now.

A friend here at Whakatane DSE says to expect them on Monday.

According to my TNT track and trace, my copy of snow leopard arrived at the christchurch depo, and was dispatched for delivery about half an hour a go, so i'm expecting to get it within the next couple of hours.

Has anyone tried to go into a retail store and get a copy today?

Nope, no luck at DSE. Stock arriving next week.
Went to Technology Centre in Tauranga as well and they confirmed that the stock has been delayed from Australia (of course) and should be arriving next week sometime.
And yet online orders are being delivered as we speak? That'll teach me for not ordering online.

Mine said arrived in CHC and now says "Shipment Held In Warehouse. Follow Up Actions Underway."
Not sure what that means? Delivery is to Nelson.

I wouldn't surprised if that means they don't want anyone getting it in NZ before retailers do.

Has anyone actually got theirs yet?

Intersting. Mine made it through the CHCH Warehouse and is out for delivery now. See : http://www.tnt.com/webtracker/tracking.do?searchType=CON&sourceID=1&cons=421360172&navigation=1

Maybe they only do a nightime truck to nelson or something? Has anyone tried magnum mac, I would have though they would have copies, seeing that they are a "premium" apple reseller.

I'm not finishing work till 11 tonight anyway, so even if it is delivered I won't get to using untill tomorrow anyway.
