Hi all,

Have seen various video capture offerings on the web and most roads seem to lead to "Elgato Video Capture" for Mac.

Considering the price of this product 'new', are there any suitable tried and tested alternatives?
Wondering where I can look to buy "elgato video capture"  as 'used'?

Looking to capture VHS to DVD (obviously after editing on MAC).

Cheers

they popup on trademe very regularly, i would go there. brand new some of them are quite expensive. also you get eye tv 3 with them so afterwards you can turn you machine into a PVR as well (or just sell the device on trademe to recover the cost, which you would likely do)

Thanks for that, I may just have to shell out for a brand new one.

Thanks for the offer, what type of video capture device do you have?

It's a white Formac FS10.
It does capture from RCA and s-video into a DV format (onboard compression) via FireWire 400.
It can do reverse as well.
No power needed, draws power from your FireWire port.
Does a really good job. I used it to archive all my VHS into files.
