Reported as 6.9... I feel another one coming. Under the desk again.

Geonet report 6.9.

It was a rolling thing (6.0) then a big rumble (6.9). And then the house kept rolling around for a few minutes more.

It was heavy in Jville, I wonder how much damage in the CBD.

just a little rock and roll. to be expected in the shaky isles.  just like volcanoes erupting and putting couple cms of ash on our cars.  Just unfortunate some places dont stand up to quakes.
Something we all need to be prepared for and expect when we live in NZ.

Does anyone in Welly have an idea if there is any major damage? Trying to get hold of family there and all networks appear down.

I was in the CBD, everyone's getting out. Home in J'Ville now. Felt pretty big, big enough for me to dive under a desk for sure. No obvious damage on the outskirts of the Wellington CBD.

Interesting flutter of quakes going on!

Keep safe Wellington, Picton, Seddon, Blenheim!

I don't think it felt as bad as the big one a few weeks ago, which I think got downgraded anyway. As long as they don't get worse. The rolling ones aren't too bad, just make you feel a bit woozy. The severity rating is more relevant than the number.
The experts did have a 20% prediction that there would be another one over 6 which is quite low odds, so their predictions are a bit off. I don't think they should make those sorts of predictions.
